Landmark Collection » Bergen Old Town

Panorama photography picture of Bergen old town, Norway. The view is across the inner harbour to the quayside which is lined with pleasure boats and the brightly coloured shops, restaurants, and bars in the old town's medieval wooden buildings.
Detail of the window display of one of the shops adjoining the quay.

Bryggen is the oldest quarter of Bergen in Norway. The original medieval wooden warehouses were destroyed by fire in 1702. They were later rebuilt and many of these original wooden warehouses remain alongside the later stone warehouses.

Nowadays, these brightly coloured buildings house shops, bars, and restaurants stretching out alongside the harbour. The scene is alive with people enjoying a warm summer afternoon drinking coffee and talking with friends.
