Landmark Collection » Tower of London

Picture of Tower of London at Night. This night photograph is taken from the South Bank of the Thames. The Tower is illuminated and appears grey white. The gate illumination gives it a soft pink stone colour. The words 'Entrance to the Traitors Gate' can be seen below the Thames side path. There are trees to either side of the Tower and the sky has a red glow from the City lights.

The White Tower with the infamous Traitors Gate entrance from the River Thames.

In the background is the White Tower, built by William the Conqueror nearly 1000 years ago.

In the foreground is Traitors Gate, built between 1275 and 1295. This gate was originally known as the Water Gate but the name was changed as it became the landing point and entrance into The Tower for the Crown's enemies.
