The Stones o' Stenness, scarred and grey with age,
stand on the shore of Stenness
Loch on mainland Orkney.
These stones date back to 3100 BC and are two
of the last four remaining from a ring of twelve stones that made up a henge monument.
In the late evening, the silhouette of the stones
appears eerie and mysterious against the blue and silver of the night sky.
